Once Devin and I started with the house renovations, I took the opportunity to switch things up with the furniture and get rid of things that I didn’t think were going to go with the new feel. We sold our old acrylic table and I swapped out the white round mirror with this brass mirror that was in our master. I loved this console table from Target because of the mix of wood and black and the drawers were a plus. To hide dog toys and shoes, I put two white baskets underneath the table.
I needed different elements for the entry way table. Something with height, something personal and something practical. With the new natural tones of the house, I knew I wanted some pampas grass on this table to add height. I found a pretty batch at West Elm that I put in a white ceramic vase. For something personal, I added a brass picture frame that has a photo of us from our engagement shoot. Obviously, I needed to have the queen herself, Joanna Gaines, on the table because I look to her for inspiration. I love her Home Body book. When it came to something practical, I decided on a catch-all bowl. It took me a little while to find THE one, but the Homegoods Gods blessed me one day with the perfect sized wood bowl. This is where we throw our keys, sunglasses, and wallet. I also added my favorite Anthropologie candle for a home-y feel.
When we first moved in, we worked with what we had in the space that we had. Now, that we’ve spent some time in our home and are making it ours, it’s so much fun to see the progress we’ve made.
I can’t wait to show you the before and afters of our bathrooms!! Stay tuned for that.
