Easy Hacks to Update Your Guest Bathroom

When it comes to updating a space in your home whether it’s a guest bathroom, laundry room, or bedroom, it doesn’t have to be daunting or expensive. When it comes to your guest bathroom, you want it to leave a lasting impression on your guests as it’s the bathroom they will use when they come over. These simple hacks to update your guest bathroom won’t break the bank, will update your space, and keep your guests coming back for more (hopefully not for too long ;).

Hacks

  1. Paint- You’d be surprised how much of an effect paint color has in a space. If it’s a small space, you want to stick with a light paint color to make the space feel bigger. If it’s a big space, you have more room to play with color. Changing the paint color alone, gives the space a brand new feel and a new foundation to play off of. I’m also not opposed to some wallpaper. Wallpaper is great for accent walls and looks like you put way more effort into the design process than you actually did.
  2. Change hardware- If you’re feeling uninspired by the vanities you currently have in your bathroom, or your shower is starting to look outdated, try changing the hardware before dropping a pretty penny on brand new appliances. You can change the knobs and faucet on a vanity to keep it up-to-date. Switching out the light fixture in your bathroom can also make a drastic change – there are so many options you can choose from like rustic, to modern, to industrial etc. Changing the shower head in your shower to go with the new theme will also help modernize your shower. In our guest bathroom, we changed everything out except our shower. So, to update it and have it flow with the new vanities and floors, we changed the hardware in the shower to a modern matte black and added a shower curtain. It’s an inexpensive way to spruce up the space without having to demo. You can also refinish your bathtub which I want to do at some point, where someone comes and sprays your tub white and saves you the costs of ripping out the tile and replacing them. It’s said to last 10 – 15 years.
  3. Mirrors- I think mirrors and the shape of mirrors affect a space. You can change the whole focus of your bathroom, by switching out the mirror. In our bathroom, we had a silver oval mirror that looked very traditional. Our vanity came with a matching mirror that I wasn’t opposed to, so we kept it and it anchored the vanity.
  4. Accent wall- Adding an accent wall with wallpaper (playing with different prints), or adding photos to your space adds an extra pop to the space. Whether you’re adding conversational photos, personal photos, or a pop of print with wallpaper, you will leave an impression on your guests. Art is subjective, so you can have fun with it.
