How I decorated our dining room

The Process

I think the best part about being a homeowner is being able to make your home your sanctuary and exactly how you want it. Devin and I moved into our home together almost a year ago and it’s been a process to get everything we want done. We moved in with the basics and got staple pieces rather quickly – sofa, dining room table, chairs. But, the devil is in the details and it takes time to find the perfect pieces to complete a space. Our two major living spaces downstairs, the dining room and living room, are about done, we just need to switch out light fixtures.

DESIGN

Our vibe for the house is boho-modern. I wanted to keep everything neutral except for accents of color like pillows or area rugs that I could easily change out if I got tired of them. For our dining room, I thought a rectangular table would compliment the space well so I decided to get one with a bench because it took up less space than adding another two chairs. I found this wood table from Macy’s furniture that was the perfect amount of rustic. The chairs are from Home Goods along with the wall art. We finally got a proper dining set for my bridal shower, so I paired our new plates from Crate and Barrel with matching placemats that just tied everything together in the room. When it came to picking out the perfect rug for this space – it wasn’t easy. I had purchased and returned at least two rugs prior to deciding to keep this one because you can’t get a feel for it until you see the rug in the space. I finally decided on a Safavieh Monaco Bohemian distressed rug from Overstock that brought color to the space. Get the look below:
